NEW ENTRANCE AND “HISTORIC, ARTISTIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTATION CENTRE ” IN THE “SPACCIO DI ROSINA”
On 31 March 2007 this important service structure for visitors was opened in one of the buildings of the Garzoni Garden, specially renovated for the purpose. The “Spaccio di Rosina” now houses the new entrance and ticket office. Immediately behind this is an expansive educational area, fully equipped with the most modern technology, while respecting the historic character of the ambience. This area is designed as an introduction for the visitor, providing information to enhance enjoyment of the subsequent visit to the Garden.
This obligatory passage for reaching the Garden presents the history of the garden itself using multimedia tools (pictures, films, documents etc.) and also provides information about the restoration and the intervention still in progress through projects and drawings, photos and details of the restoration techniques. This enhances the experience by increasing the visitor’s knowledge and appreciation of the monumental garden and its life over time. Obviously, the natural contents of the Garden – the pools and fountains, the trees, the wild life and the flowers and plants – are fully illustrated. The area has been designed in the form of an obligatory itinerary, along which visitors are provided with various information and a series of multimedia images, which are valid even at peak times when the visitors are so numerous that they do not have time to stop; there are also small stopping-places along the way where the elements of greater interest are treated in more detail.
Beyond the educational area, the visitor traverses a narrow path semi-hidden by trees, after which he or she emerges at the point with a central view of the parterre, with the present entrance gate to the rear: this is where the visit to the Garden proper begins.
