This ancient Italic deity was the symbol of Spring, flowers and youth; she was also known as “mater”, possibly signifying the fertile flowering of springtime. Her cult developed among the Sabines, and as we recall she was abducted by Zephyrus, who then married her. The sculpture in terracotta shows the goddess in the act of scattering the flowers gathered in her gown.
