Peasant pouring water from a barrel
Rougher in its modelling than the other eighteenth-century sculptures, this may have been one of the statues that were part of the seventeenth-century arrangement of the garden used by Diodati in his new layout. The statue recalls similar poses previously proposed elsewhere, such as the fountain of the Peasant with a Barrel by Giovanni Fancelli previously at Pratolino and now in Boboli, or the Fontana della Vendemmia, also in the Boboli Gardens in Florence.
