Peasant emptying barrel
This is situated in the rocaille-work grotto belonging to the maze and below the 'viale dei pitocchi'. It is of eighteenth-century manufacture and shows a peasant emptying a barrel resting against his left leg. Above the peasant is an inscription bearing the legend “BATHS OF THE MAZE IN THE COOL SHADE/ HAVE REPRODUCED HERE THE ROMAN DELIGHTS/ FLOW SWEET STREAM THROUGH THESE GROTTOES/ ALTHOUGH YOU ARE WARM YET YOU GIVE GREAT REFRESHMENT. The little grotto is also equipped with two stone stools.
