Name of the work: The assassins

All of a sudden, in the middle of the Assassins’ Wood, there appear two shady characters with their heads covered by sacks. In actual fact, it is the Cat and the Fox again, who frighten Pinocchio, albeit in a somewhat comic-grotesque manner: effectively the number of weapons they have is far in excess of the paws to hold them in. The dramatic nature of the scene is underscored also by the use of dense vegetation that blocks out the sky and isolates this episode of the story from the others that are here out of sight.
